(Joe Fraley, David Fraley, Coach Sink)
Saturday night, Sept. 20th, I was invited to a beautiful event at the Cherry Valley Inn in Newark, Ohio, for one of my top Quarterbacks ever, and that is David Fraley, a 6’1″ 195 lbs. dual threat that had an outstanding HS career. The picture above (L to R) shows his father, Joe Fraley, who did an excellent job introducing his extremely talented and athletic son, David Fraley, pictured in the center. On the right, of course, is Coach Sink.
Whether he was flying around the field running, or throwing those 55+ yard TD passes, he was a sight to behold, and beating you was a given in his mind, and that he did. Leading his team to a 22 and 4 record as a starter over 3 years while being Offensive Player of the Year for Central Ohio and Licking County as well. First Team All-State his Junior Year and Second Team All-State his Senior Year. His Team was Conference Champs both his Junior and Senior Years. He did all this without an exploded ego, as he was voted by his teammates and coaches Team MVP 3 years in a row.
David Fraley started a 15 year string for Coach Sink of First Team All-State Quarterbacks in Ohio plus First Team All-Staters in Va., West Pa., Ky, and Indiana, in addition. He was always wanting to be coached hard and was a dream of a player to have on any team.
David Fraley has total Stats to die for, 7021 total offensive yards and 84 TDS combining; 5396 passing yards and 65 TDS, and 1628 yards rushing and 19TDS.
I had the privilege of coaching David in Basketball as well, but because this is a Football site I will just tell you David is in the top ten All Time leading scorers for Granville HS. David is now a very successful attorney working with his father Joe’s firm.
Congratulations David Fraley for being voted into the Granville HS Hall Of Fame. Your Coach for ever COACH SINK
