Carlisle Gets Newark Catholic First Playoff Victory

Matt Carlisle from HS to college

He’s big, He’s consistent, and he is a fierce competitor.  That describes Matt Carlisle my Senior QB at Newark Catholic.  Matt engineered a real thumping of the boys from Readsville Eastern 35 to 7 Saturday and moves the Green Wave on to face Shadyside HS this Saturday.

Matt as he has done most of the year lead the team again by throwing 3 TD passes and rushed for another. Derek Hawk added 2 more TDS by rushing and did a good job moving the ball most of the night with help from Junior RB Drew Hess who also did plenty of damage on the ground rushing.

Matt as I said at the beginning  is a consistent QB and he picked apart the defense with accurate laser rockets throughout the night and mixed a few runs in to keep it interesting.   Slater Evans another of the consistent Coach Sink work out attendees, caught one of those passes for a TD and added to his already All-time TDS caught in a single season at Catholic  to 13 for the year.  WR Evans is an amazing talent even those he is not blessed with major size but takes what God gave him and get’s all he can get  out of it.   Evans also had an interception on defense.

Matt Carlisle, Slater Evans and company take on, in the State semi-finals,  Shadyside at Meadowbrook Field Saturday at 7 pm.  Go get ‘em boys you can get to the final game and maybe bring home another State Title for the Green Wave.
