Caprella and Shawnee no longer a surprise

After winning just one game all year last year, Shawnee HS in Shawnee, Ohio (Near Lima) is no longer a surprise football team when it comes to winning. They are already 3 and 2 and one of those losses  was in overtime to St. Mary’s HS by 1 point when a failed 2 point conversion kept them from another win. St. Mary’s has been a power in their conference for some time and is not an easy out for anyone in NW Ohio.  Friday was Shawnees’ 3rd win by defeating another tough competitor in their league, Van Wert HS in Van Wert Ohio.

The Game started off with Johnny Caprella my super Junior QB lighting up the sky with one of his famous rockets, throwing the ball 47 yards in the air for his favorite long ball target, speedster WR Christian Ford who ended the night with 7 receptions for 72 yards and this TD.  In the second quarter Shawnee put up 3 more TDs, one by the outstanding talented RB Javion Daniels , 2 by Caprella with a 5 yard run and a 17 yard scamper, to make the score 28 to 7Shawnee at the half.

In the 3rd quarter, Johnny found his excellent running back Grant Wheeler on a beautiful wheel route out of the backfield and down the sidelines for 24 yards and a 35 to 13 lead.  The rest of the game was put in the hands of the defense, and they held of Van Wert and sealed the deal with a 35- 27 victory.  We can see the Shawnee Indians and our fine young QB growing in maturity as the season goes on but still have to be able to win out in order to secure one of those playoff spots everyone wants.   Johnny finished the night with 17 rushes for 141 yards and 2 TDs and 14 of 23 passing (60% completion avg.) for 156 yards and 2 TDs.

Another good outing for this young QB Johnny Caprella who is learning quickly what it takes to win ball games and we are proud of the turnaround he has lead for his Shawnee Indians, so far this year.
