And the winner is…………..BLAKE HORVATH QB Navy. Deservedly so, the only Quarterback in Navy history to throw for 1000 yards or more, and Rush for 1000 yards or more, during Both his Junior and Senior year at the Academy. His other awards are so numerous that if I were to start listing them this article would be longer then the Declaration of Independence. However, one of the greatest was presented to him last Saturday evening at the Maxwell Award banquet for the top QB in College Football for 2026. As Alan Horvath, Blake’s dad, said; “this was a First-Class evening in every way.”
As you can tell from the photos, assembled and displayed by our director of site, Savannah Kutrubs, there was an elite membership to this event, most of which were either outstanding players or responsible for those players to be there. The row above L to R is Fernando Mendoza QB, Heisman Trophy winner and National Champs, Indiana, Julian Sayin QB Ohio State, Blake Horvath QB US Naval Academy and winner of The Maxwell Award, Jake Rodriques QB/LB Texas Tech, and the incredible Heisman Trophy winning RB Eddie George, Ohio State.
I am sure that the word “Family” comes to mind as you gaze over these photos, and that is one Big reason to love this sport. Football is responsible for a family that loves and protects it, and you can see, from these great athletes that all had a chance to get to know each other on a personal basis, a Huge Thank you goes to the awesome Maxwell Awards committee. After you view these photos, we hope you will feel a part of this fabulous evening.
Awesome lob, BLAKE HORVATH; Coach Sink.
