Navy goes to 8 and 2 with 2 games left in the regular season. Their great QB Blake Horvath was only able to play a little more than half the game so he defiantly got some help from some of his buddies. Offensively it was basically his 2 super stars Eli Heidenreich and Alex Tecza who had 2 TDS including a 14-yard pass from Horvath and a 76-yard run. Also chipping in on the scoring was the backup QB Braxton Woodson who had 2 TDS. Heidenreich had a total of 148 yards of receptions including a fabulous 82 yarder from Blake Horvath who delivered it with a 48-yard bomb from his own 7-yard line and then Eli took it all the way to the 5 to set up the 2nd Navy score. Heidenreich became the All-Time leading Receiver for the Midshipmen with 1794 yards and still has a couple of games left to add to his already record.
A great game to watch with a lot of action but the Naval Academy would not be denied and ended up beating the number 25 team in the Nation by a score of 41 to 38. South Florida was a very good team and played well and were well coached, but Navy’s quickness and toughness was the difference.
Blake Horvath ended up with 147 yards passing and a TD and rushed for another 60 yards on 21 carries. The next challenge for Blake and the Goats is Nov. the 27th at Memphis and then the last regular season game against their rival Army.
It has been a real pleasure being Blakes private QB coach and I have loved to watch him mature to the incredible athlete he is today. The future has yet to be written but, I believe he will be a huge success in anything he desires to be. Coach Sink
