Wow! I almost don’t know where to start when I talk about my 6’3†210 lbs First team All State Quarterback from Girard HS in Girard Ohio, Mark Waid. Let’s just talk about the final game which they lost in a close battle with Perry (an outstanding team as well), and look at what  Mark did in the game personally. He threw for 345 yards and 3 TDs and no interceptions, doing everything he could do pull off another victory for his Indians. Girard ended the season with a 10 and 2 record winning their conference Championship and going 2 deep in the playoffs for the first time in the history of the school.

Marky’s final stats for the year are amazing. He attempted 335 passes and completed 212 for 3506 yards, 37 passing TDS and then rushed for 1129 yards and 19 TDS and only 3 INTS.  He was responsible for 56 TDS more than most Elite QBS have in their HS careers.   A very respectable 63.3 % completion for the year and a QB rating that is incredible: 131.5.   If you add in Mark being one of the most competitive QBS I have ever coached you have a major D1 QB prospect.

You can easily see how he is D4 First Team All State QB and Player of the Year in Ohio.   I am so proud of this young man as he also is a great student and most of all a model citizen.

You can see from the picture above (Mark standing in the end zone at Ohio State during a visit to the Illinois game) he has already been invited to Ohio State, Pittsburgh, and Miami of Ohio and now that the season is over he will be able to look at many more top places in the near future. Keep in mind he is just a Junior, graduating in 2019. Ohio State has him in the top three prospects in the USA at QB, and it is easy for me to agree with that assessment.  Congratulations Mark Waid on a phenomenal year for both you and your Girard Indians.

So proud of you my man !!!
