Girard and Waid make light work out of LaBrae

Mark Waid , my Star QB at Girard HS in Girard went 9 and 0 Friday by putting LaBrae away early (as they have done for the last few weeks) with a final score of 55 to 21.  Mark Waid had 191 yards of passing and 1 TD, but also rushed for 66 yards and 2 more TDs and that was the first half.  Marky did not play in the second half but Coach Pearson’s Indians kept the pedal to the metal and made light work of LaBrae.

Mark Waid’s totals for the year are leading the Division 4 in the State and right there with the leaders in the Country.  Amazing totals of 26 TDs passing and 16 rushing in 9 games, for an incredible total of 42 TDs which averages 4.6 TDs per game. He has thrown for 2404 yards and Rushed for 901 yards but the most important stat of all– 9 wins and 0 losses and the number 8 rated team in the State of Ohio.  If you ask Marky if he is good with that, he would say Perfect, as he is the number 1 “team playerâ€, and as he figures it, the stats will take care of themselves.   And, they sure have!!!!!!

Mark would want me to mention that his star receiver Senior, Michael Belcik, caught 1050 yards of those passes and stuck it in the end zone 13 times this year, and looks like a college football player that will be playing the game for some time in the future.   But right now both of these guys and the rest ofPat Pearson’s Indians are focused on the game Friday where they will meet for “the Battle of the Belmont†and the conference Championship.  The Liberty Leopards are 7-2 overall but undefeated in conference play at 5 -0 as is Girard, so it looks like a pretty good showdown.

I know Mark Waid and he can’t wait for this one, for the bigger the game the better he plays, so you can COUNT ON THE Girard Indians to BRING IT Friday.

Go, my man, Mark Waid and Go Indians bring home the victory.
