Stewart and Jaguars take down Davidson 28 to 10

A football player running with the ball

I am so proud of this young man who has persevered under some difficult circumstances to rise again to the top.  Josh Stewart 6’2†210 lbs. Senior QB at Hilliard Bradley HS in Hilliard Ohio, had to move last December right before his senior year.  Difficult you bet, but let me take it a step further. He moved to a program that had just had the Offensive player of the year in the State of Ohio, QB Will Phillis (now at Kent State), last year and the team had gone 11 and 2.  Now, here comes Josh Stewart, with the pressure of having to win the starting QB roll then become the team leader, which he has, and make all new friends in new surroundings.   Now you add the expectations of a team that is expected to win and make the playoffs and defeat some of the best programs in Central Ohio.

Josh Stewart is clicking them off one by one, and this week is named the Columbus DispatchTop Performer with his performance.    He and his young Jaguar friends beats Hilliard Davidson, a two time State Championship program with a resounding 28 to 10 victory.    Does the coaching staff have anything to do with this.   Yes sir, they do!!  Mike Laparo the young head coach of the Jaguars has done a masterful job with incorporating Josh into his offense and giving him the keys to the Cadillac and letting him drive it.  And drive it, he is.  Completing 14 of 19 passes against a Coach White defense that was all geared up to stop the Bradley high flying offense.  73% completion avg. is dynamite in any game but against your big time cross town rival it is awesome.  Josh threw for 212 yards and a passing TD then did a masterful job of running the football and scored again on the ground.

Kory Taylor and Daveon Anderson and Trey Warner all had big nights catching Stewartspasses and running for the Jaguars.   Also contributing were the pair of running backs Jack Richards and Grant Buehl.  It doesn’t get any easier as this week the Jags are off to the other cross town rival Hilliard Darby.  Josh will be up for the challenge and so will his new buddies at Bradley.   Josh is one of the very top College QB prospects in Ohio and the Midwest so I cannot wait to see how the rest of the year pans out for him as he sets out to prove it.   Congrats Josh on a great start to the year.
