Johnny Caprella, Writing the Record Book in only Second Game

A group of men playing football on a field.

This young man who has only been a little more than a year with Coach Sink is taking to the QB spot like a 3 year veteran.  Johnny Caprella just played his second varsity football game of his life, and he finished Friday with the NW Player of the week.   Not bad, for this Junior Star!   The newspapers in NW Ohio put up 5 picks each week for the Player of the week and this is twice Johnny has been chosen for this honor, being #3 of the top 5 in the first week and now #1 in the region, and this is the second week of the season.

Here is the unbelievable part, he now holds the all-time HS record at Shawnee for the most TDs in a game, as he threw for 6 Touchdowns and ran for 2 more, totaling 8 TDs.   He put up 375 yards of passing on 12 of 18 attempts and 20 yards rushing in 6 attempts.   He did all this playing over at Defiance HS in Defiance Ohio, and they will not soon forget the 56 to 7 thrashing.

Christian Ford , Johnny’s number 1 WR right now, caught 3 of those passes for 148 yards and 2 TDs.  Christian is a 4.4 or under speed merchant that is a rising star as well. Grant Wheeler, another fine WR for the Indians caught 4 passes for 113 yards and 3 TDS.

The more you win the more you have that target on your back, but who doesn’t love the pressure?   It is on to this Friday night where the Shawnee Indians take on Wapakoneta, better known in the area as Wapak,  at  home, and my guess is this will be a ball game.

An Interesting side note is, this Shawnee team is coming off last year with a record of 1 win and 9 losses. So, what a turn around, and what a difference Johnny Caprella has made in this team.

As you can imaging, the phone is ringing off the hook in the coaches office from multi D1 programs asking if Johnny would like to attend a game at that University. Not to worry though,Johnny is focused on the task on hand and that is Keep Winning football games for theIndians.  I am so proud of my young student and his exceptional work ethic, and look forward to Coaching this fine young man for years to come.  Pictured above is Shemy Schembeckler of GES Advisory ( the best recruiting service in the US), Johnny Caprella, and Coach Sink.
