Caprella and Ford tear up Kentucky Camp

coachsink June 22, 2018 3 minutes read
Two pictures of a football player and an athlete.

Johnny Caprella 6’2†197 lbs QB and Christian Ford the speedster WR, both from Lima Shawnee HS, in Lima Ohio, put on quite a show for the Kentucky Wildcat’s and their fans at Saturday’s Elite Football camp in beautiful  Lexington, Ky. Caprella was firing Rockets like he normally does and Ford was flying around catching them in the awesome Wildcats stadium under the lights and both looked at home for their debut in the SEC.

Both of these guys are looking forward to their new coach Jerry Cooper taking the helm this fall after moving back to Ohio from Sevierville, Tn., and who wouldn’t want to coach this team with this kind of talent as it’ foundation.   Coach Cooper comes with pretty important credentials as he returns to the city where he already coached Lima Central Catholic to a State Championship.  By the way, Tyler O’Conner, who went on to play for Mich. State, was the QB on that team, and Coach cooper, after seeing Johnny workout said, “I believe Caprella is better than Tyler at the same age.â€

Coach Darin Henshaw OC/QB coach for the Wildcat’s  called me right after the camp and started immediately raving about Johnny and his accuracy and his deep long ball abilities. Then he told me that Head Coach Mark Stoops said,†I believe the Caprella kid has the strongest fastest delivery I have seen in a long time.† We really like Johnny, he continued and will be back to you soon.

Then the conversation turned to Christian Ford, and Darin said, “Do you know how fast this kid is?†I answered, “ah, yes, but how fast was he when you timed him?â€Â Coach Henshaw told me he ran a 4.47 40, however, that was Laser timed.  For all of you who don’t know, that is blazing fast. Then he said, “ Coach Sink, that is not all, he also did a 40†verticalâ€.  I answered, “WOWâ€.

Coach Henshaw also told me about Johnny and Christian hooking up together during one on ones and that Johnny ended the night by throwing 5 or 6 TDS with heavily contested defensive backs climbing all over the receivers.

Looks like the future is heating up for both of these kids and I am very proud of them.  Go Lima Shawnee Indians.
