It is with great admiration and respect that I say MVP another time for Blake Horvath. He has won so many I won’t list them all, but he finishes his career at Navy with another MVP of the 2026 AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis Tenn. Beating U of Cincinnati 35 to 13 and the second Bowl MVP award in a row for Blake Horvath, after last years incredible win in the Armed Forces Bowl over Oklahoma 21 to 20. Head Coach Brian Newberry, who played his college football under a friend of mine, the winningest coach in the University of Baylor history Grant Teaff, has done a phenomenal job with this group of guys. He has done what a lot of coaches don’t do, and that is he has trusted his Stars to be Stars. On the offensive side of the ball that has been Blake Horvath, Eli Heidenreich, and Alex Tecza, and of course, many of the other guys on a week to week basis. He did figure out in Blake’s case how to take a blended offense that takes a special talent to understand, run and succeed and put it in the hands of maybe the only athlete in the football world who could pull it off. Blake Horvath has been the perfect fit and performed like an MVP should, winning 21 games with only 5 total losses, in 2 years. I know Blake Horvath, and he is not just a one-time MVP guy, he has that “IT” factor that not many athletes have, even when he was picking up 4th and 20 by running the ball in high school when his team needed him to win a ball game, to doing the same thing at Navy. His last college game was another normal game for Horvath, first TD running it in from 3 yards out 7 to 0 Navy. Second a TD pass to Hutchinson, 14 to 7 Navy. 3rd QT, a 15 slant to his favorite receiver Eli Heidenreich 21 to 7 Navy. With 10:42 left in the game a hand off to Alex Tecza for a 9 yard run into the end zone Navy 28 Cincy 7. With 3 minutes left LB Coleman Cauley picks off the Cincy QB and takes it to the house for a 35 to 13 win. Blake ends the day with 108 yards on 9-15 passing and 2 TDS plus the 1 rushing and 51 yards on the ground. Tecza ended up with 80 yards, and Heidenreich with 64 yards receiving with 5 catches. Whether Blake decides to play some more football or wants to start flying those Big Helicopters for the US Navy, or be President of the USA. He is THE MVP and one of 2 Navy QBS in a class by themselves. The other Roger Staubach. Blake Horvath, what a College career and I am so proud to have coached him. Coach Sink
