My outstanding senior QB, Graham Walker at Woodgrove HS in Northern Virginia made it all the way Saturday to the ultimate goal of every kid playing football in the State of Virginia.  State Champs in 4 A.  Graham was not just hanging around during the game to get the ring at the end, not a chance with this fierce competitor.  Graham, already Offensive Player of the Year in the State, brought his A Game, as we say of someone who doesn’t just come to play but has no intentions of losing when he gets there. This is Exactly what happened Saturday as The Woodgrove Wolverines beat Lake Taylor 38 to 33 in a real shoot out.
The Woodgrove coaching staff, not known for throwing the ball at any high rate, took the reins off of Walker and Graham did what Grahamdoes, throwing for 343 yards and 4 TDS, but then doing his called duty as well, ran the ball for another 134 yards and 1 TD, making 70 rushes and throws in the game. If you score 5 TDS and the team scores 38 points it is easy to determine that you were the dominant offensive player in that game, no surprise, Graham Walker Player of the gameand Player of the week in Virginia on Championship week-end.
Graham really showed off his entire arsenal of throws as he threw a 63 yard seam route for a TD, then threw a 43 yard fade to the left, setting up his rushing TD of 8 yards. He also threw fades from the 10 yard line that were perfectly placed right over the Pylons, both to the left and right in the corner of the end zone for 2 more of his TDS and then a quick slant from the right side for the final TD. What a night for a young man that is as deserving as any I have coached. Hard working and talented but best of all a Model Citizen, the kind of kid every mother wants her girl to bring home to dinner. Graham Walkeris living out God’s plan in his life,. Congratulations my man.
