Marantis wins it for JFK with seconds to go.

A football player in the middle of a game.

Christian Marantis my 6’0 210 lbs. Junior QB playing for Warren John F. Kennedy HS in Warren Ohio made his first varsity start Saturday at Mollenkoph Stadium against Champion HSand became an instant hero.  Marantis threw a quick release fade in the right corner of the end zone with the ball on the 12 yard line, with 6 seconds on the clock, and the perfectly placed ball ended in the outstretched hands of his WR, Savone Williamson to put JFK up 18 to 15 and as they say, “That was all she wroteâ€.

Now, that is not all Christian did, leading up to that, Coach Jeff Bayuk’s found his Eagles on their own 48 yard line with 35 seconds on the clock with no time outs left.   This situation is not ideal for any QB including those with a lot of experience, let alone a Junior in his first start. Not to worry, Christian played like the real deal, with his first play being a corner pass with perfect trajectory leading Williamson out of bounds with one step to go to put them inside theChampion 20 yard line. Then Christian scrambled 8 yards to the 7 yard line and had the playing smarts to know to stop the clock by grounding the ball with 6 seconds left.    At that point Coach Jeff Bayuk, considered going for a game tying field goal, and you certainly couldn’t blame him, but after getting a delay of game penalty, he made the wise decision to put the ball in the hands of his on fire QB and go for the win. Great call Coach !!!!!

Chrisitian ended up with 7 completions on 11 attempts, for 122 yards and 3 TDS and 0 INTS. What a great night for Christian Marantis and Savone Williamson and Coach Jeff Bayuk and his Warren John F Kennedy HS Eagles.   1 and 0 is sweet.
