Mark Waid and Indians win first playoff game

Mark Waid my awesome QB from Girard HS in Girard Ohio won his first playoff game by defeating the Lakeview Bulldogs 33 – 31 Friday. Mark put up what is becoming normal numbers for him but incredible numbers for most QBs, by passing for 362 yards and Rushing for 113 yards for a total night of 475 yards of offense. Mark was 26 of 40 throwing and 3 TDS and the rushing yards came on 30 attempts and he put the ball in the end zone 2 more times on the ground.

Michael Belcik, his senior star receiver made 14 catches for 168 yards and caught all three of Mark’s TD passes, including one for 82 yards in the 3rd Quarter to put Girard ahead in the game for good at the 4:43 minute mark.

Lakeview wasn’t easy however, as they took a 10-0 lead early in the game and were on top of Coach Pat Pearson’s Indians at the half 17 to 12. Belcik said of the second half, “we just needed to execute and let Mark do what he does, He is a great Quarterback.â€Â Mark Waid did exactly what he needed to do, and that was put up points in a hurry so the Indians scored 21 points in the 3rd Quarter and held off the Bulldogs but could have scored one more easily as they had the ball inside the 4 yard line and chose to take a knee for the last three plays of the game.

Great job Mark Waid and Michael Belcik and the rest of the Indians on their first playoff win of the 2017 season, and this Friday they take on the storied program of Perry who is undefeated so far this year, but will have their hands full with Marky and Company this week.   GoInidians Beat Perry.
