Josh Stewart and Jaguars finish season 10-0

Wow, what a year for Mike Laparo’s Hilliard Bradley Jaguars and no small part did Josh Stewart QB play in the success of this incredible year.  First Josh had to step up and play right behind Will Phillis,( Now at Kent State) 1st team All State and  last year’s Ohio Offensive Player of the year and maybe the most decorated QB in Ohio’s history. Second Josh Stewart had to move from Worthington Kilbourne in December and take on the challenge of an all new school and teammates, start from scratch, and win the position, and win his teammates over from a leadership stand point as all great QBs have to do.  Within 2 months Coach Laparo told me, “We have a new team leader and it is Josh Stewartâ€, I answered and said I am not surprised at all he is just that type of kid.

Well, here we are 11 months later and 10 wins and 0 defeats in a season that saw Josh play in the second half in only a few of the games due to the big lead at half time.   No small part was played by the Jaguars growling defense that was outstanding most of the way throughout this run. Josh’s passing numbers for the season ended up to be 146 completions out of 212 attempts for an amazing 68.8% completion average. He threw for 2162 yards and 23 TDs then rushed for 458 yards and 10 more TDS and 5 INTS (of which 3 were in the first quarter of the first game)  Maybe a little jitters that first night out J,  For a QB rating that is really good Josh ended his season at 128.3.   Now, just for the fun of it, if you take out the 3 jitter INTS, his QB rating is one that any NFL QB would love to have, it is 142.7.  These numbers were with Josh on the field for approximately 7 ½ games.

I must say that Josh did inherit the best wide receiving core in Central Ohio and maybe in the State.   Kory Taylor 6’4†200 lbs. speedster,  Daevon Anderson 6’1†190 lbs. speedster at the other wide out, and 2 Juniors in the slot, one Zack Hummel the big strong 6’4†240 lbs. power receiver and Trey  Warner 6’3†190lbs. who may have been the most improved punt returner and receiver in the state. All four of these guys, as well as Josh, I expect to see playing college football soon.  I just want to say Congratulations to Josh Stewart and theBradley Jaguars on a season that is hard to do in this State of Ohio and a day in which high school football is so offensive oriented.Hilliard Bradley starts the State Playoffs this Friday against Kettering Fairmont out of the Dayton region at 7:30 pm at home. Good luck to all these Coach Sink Boys.
