Caprella wins Coach Sink Duel

It is always fun when I have both QB’S and 8 WR’s in one football game on Friday night. This was true last Friday at Elida HS in Elida Ohio.  Johnny Caprella my sensational Senior QB brought his Shawnee HS Indians to the party to play this up and coming Elida Team.   Rainy, Cold, and Miserable were the conditions but then again that’s why Midwest kids are tougher than most.  So, my good buddy and partner Shemy Schembechler from GES Advisory and I both made the trip and both of us new how to dress so it was a fun night out on the field.   The athletic Director from Elida Dan Evans escorted us just behind the near end zone so we would both feel at home, and we did.

Johnny and his Indians drew first blood with a 1st Quarter score by Johnny running the ball in on a QB sneak from the 2 yard line.  They failed to score the extra point so at the end of 1st it was Shawnee 6 and Elida 0.  Now it was Evan Unruh, my quick, speedy, young Freshman QB from Elida’s turn to shine and Wow, did He !  Evan ran and he threw the ball for 2 TDs in the 3rd  Quarter.   One was a 2 yard run for Layton Mowery and the other by one of my outstanding WRs Keshawn Spivey on a 5 yard sweep.  Elida converted on the extra points to go up 14 to 6  at the end of the 3rd quarter.

For all of you who don’t think competitors care about each other and that there is a Coach Sink Fraternity, here is a side note  worth mentioning.  Johnny Caprella kept texting Freshman Evan Unruh during the entire game, encouraging and coaching him up each series.   Caprella, what a young man!

After that it was all Johnny and Shawnee, scoring once early in the 4th with Johnny getting a 2 point conversion to tie the game.   Then late in the fourth Shawnee took over the ball on about their own 30, and Caprella as he has a habit of doing, put together a drive worth watching.  On one third down Johnny had to escape the rushing LBs from Elida and that he did, rolling out to his left and setting up perfectly (Aaron Rodgers like) to throw a rocket 30 yard one ball finding Triston Dawson another  of my WRs, at the 8 yard line so he could step out and stop the clock. Triston is a talented 6’2â€Â WR that should be going to college to continue his football career along with another of my WRs that plays on the other side of the field from him.   That is Christian Ford, a super speedster who is leaning toward YSU at the moment.

Johnny Caprella finished with 9 of 14 passing for 125 yards and 46 yards rushing.  Evan Unruh, went 13 of 27 passing for 136 yards and rushed for 72 yards (not bad for a Freshman, huh?)   Receiving, Triston Dawson had 2 catches for 35 yards and Mathew Sargent had 1 for 25 yards for the Indians. For Elida, Devon Barnett had 5 catches for 47 yards, Keshawn had 4 for 33 yards and another of my top receivers Arzaiah Little had 3 important catches for 32 yards.

All of these guys are Sink coached boys.

This Great ball game, and very competitive I might add,  ended Lima Shawnee 21 Elida 14.
