Allen Smith picks up Westerville Central to beat South 42 to 35

Some kids just know they have to pick up their buddies at times in their lives.   When our fabulous Senior QB Isaiah Healy 6’1†190 lbs went down on the first play of the game with a separated shoulder, but played two more downs trying to stay in the game but couldn’t (hopefully he can be back for next week), his buddy RB Alan Smith the outstanding running back from Westerville Central did what he knew he had to do.   That was, carry the Warhawks all night long, and wow did he do that.  In the first quarter Allan scored on two runs, one of 43 yards and one of 15 yards, then in the second quarter turned around and did it again by scoring from 48 yards out and then punching it in from one yard line.   Half time score 28 to 14 Central.

Anyone who knows Central Ohio football know that one of the major rivalry’s is Westerville Centralagainst Westerville South, so no surprise when South put on a big come back and ended up tying the score with less than 5 minutes on the clock in the fourth quarter at 35 to 35.  Momentum was definitely with the guys in Red from South.   Someone forgot to tell that to Allan Smith, however, as Allen did a prenominal job in the next few minutes, basically running the ball  down their throats.

It was if he looked over at the sidelines and said, “not to worry Isaiah, I have your back tonight as you have so often done for the rest of usâ€.  After grinding away at the South defense with a pounding way of running that I have not seen often in high school football, (probably since Bennie Snell, U of Kentuckystar running back did it on this field a few years ago) and everyone in the place, including South’defense knew that Allen was going to get the ball.  It didn’t matter, he stuck it in the end zone for his 5thTD of the night with 1:30 seconds left on the clock to make it 42 to 35 Central.

Ryan Hallinan had 3 receptions for 59 yards and a 19.7 yard per catch average and 1 TD.  The rest was done by Allen Smith, ending the night with 29 carries for 276 yards , a 9.5 yard per carry average for the night and 5 TDS.   Seems almost impossible but not when you need to carry your Warhawks to victory without their Star QB Isaiah Healy.  Head coach John Magestro and his Warhawks have much to be proud of last night on a Televised game that saw them beat rival South for the 5th straight year.

Hurry back Zay you Hawks need you next week if at all possible.
Here are some game highlights of Allen crushing it:
