Mark Waid Visits Syracuse

Two photos of a man in an orange jacket.

Wednesday this week, Mark and I left for Syracuse University to visit the fastest practice in D1 Football.   But of course, before we left, Mark had to have a work out so we did that at 4 pm.  By the time we got to his house, he got showered and we left, it was close to 6 pm.  Then, both of us knew we couldn’t go too far before we found a restaurant, making it to Erie Pa, where we landed at a Quaker State and enjoyed an awesome meal there. I had no idea but, Mark goes to school with the grandson of the man who started that restaurant chain.   We finally got to Syracuse at 11:30 pm and after trying to unlock 4 different rooms, at  the usually  reliable Marriot Courtyard, we got in.   That little escaped ended up with breakfast vouchers so we ate free the next morning on Marriott.

5:30 am came early as we needed to be at Syracuse by 7 am for a 7:30 am practice start.  Head Coach Dino Babers, Mike Lynch and Sean Lewis, were so glad to see us and the rest of the staff were amazing hosts. Mark was so impressed by the offense and the speed in which they practice.  The facilities, the #44 statutes, and of course the carrier dome were all great to see, and Claudia gave us an awesome tour of the campus, and was enthusiastic about the 6’3†Mark Waid coming to Syracuse.

Coach Lew (Sean Lewis OC) , and Mike Lynch OL coach, spent well over and hour talking to mainlyMark, quizzing him on Football, life, and how he could see himself attending Syracuse and playing in their wild tempo offense.  Mark passed the interview with flying colors and I think, he really liked the staff and the University so maybe in a couple of years he will be wearing Orange. Then, the guys recommended the best barbeque place in all of Syracuse, so we had to make stop before leaving town, and it was worth the stop.    I finally arrived home last night at 10:30 pm knowing we just opened another door for our Sensational Sophomore QB.  We had a great time, with a great young man and Coach Sink, made it out of bed at 5:30 am in time to hit the hardcourt for basketball at 6:15 am.   Awesome 2 days.
