Isaiah Healy Heir Apparent

A man and a boy standing next to each other.

It is not often I write about young QBs or WRs that are not already starting on their Varsity teams, however in this instance I feel I should mention Isaiah Healy.  The reason is, I have not seen improvement in such a short time in my development of QBs like that of “Zay†as I like to call him.  I often tell my young players and remind my older ones, “Adversity breeds greatnessâ€, and in Zay’s case it has proven out.

He started the year in competition with 4 QBs being used on one Junior Varsity team.  As you can see, there is not much time to prove yourself on the field in that scenario. Now on top of that Zay is home schooled and is at a brand new high school where he knew very few kids in advance of this year.  Not to say that we didn’t have some ups and downs during the year, because we did.  But, through perseverance, with great desire to be great on his part the last few weeks have been amazing.

First, his commitment to work at his sessions with me is intense, second, his outstanding work ethic on his own in between the sessions is excellent, and third his ability to change his demeanor and belief in his God given athletic ability and himself is amazing.  Now, putting all that together let him lead his JV team to two straight victories (where he was allowed to be the QB throughout the game) and be leading in the third game when he was replaced for playing time for the other QB.

The real reason Zay gets this article: He put up, in 2 ½ games, 11 Touchdown passes and enough rushing yardage to be the player of the week on his entire Varsity football team.  Westerville Central and “Coach Moâ€, the excellent offensive coordinator for the Warhawks, are in for another real treat as Isaiah Healy matures as a man, leader and QB.

Go Get em Zay !!!!
