As I said in the last article about Will Phillis the Ohio All State first team QB and Ohio’s Offensive Player of the Year, plus many other awards is the definition of “Adversity Breeds Greatnessâ€.
Our theme when things are not going well is this statement, but taking it to the extreme is this awesome young talented Football player. After a rocky, tumultuous ride through the recruiting process only due to injury and the time allotted to the healing of it, Will was not able to throw or workout since the middle of his Junior year in HS for coaches and camps until 3 weeks ago when he was finally 100% healthy.
This made it  almost impossible for him to receive offers that would have catapulted him to a 4 or 5 star recruit.  I believe he is the number 1 drop back passer in this year’s class in the country.
But we believe in Divine Intervention for those that believe and pray for it, and if you ever get the chance to have Will, Billie (his Dad) or myself give you all the details of this past 4 years, you too, will be astounded as to this entire story. Â Will was almost and Eagle of Boston College, a Spartan of Michigan State, plus another offer, but as of last Saturday found what I believe is an opportunity of a lifetime in becoming a Kent State Quarterback.
Donnie Treadwell the offensive coordinator from Kent State came down to see Will throw in one of our workouts 2 weeks ago  and that was all he needed.
Head Coach Paul Haynes and the rest of the staff agreed and one day later Will had the offer that culminated in his signing yesterday to be a member of the Flashes.
Will has the chance to make immediate impact on this storied program and I am looking forward to watching him do just that.
Who knows? From there God’s plan (it is never complete, always a work in progress) may be to haveWill Phillis become the next Tom Brady. If it takes adversity to become Great I know Will can handle whatever is before him because his Faith, Family, Coach and love of Football support him every day.  Go get ‘em Will and congratulations again on becoming a D1 Football player and getting your College paid for by the greatest game on earth.
Love you Man!
