I am really proud of what one of my Freshman QBs accomplished this past year.   Mark Waid my 6’3†190 lb QB from Girard HS in Girard Ohio (suburb of Youngstown) was the starting QB on his football team for the entire year as a Freshman, which is hard to do in this day and age when very few coaches will entrust that top job to a first year varsity player.
I would like to  commend his excellent young coach Pat Pearson  for making that decision. He was rewarded to say the least.
Mark put up some excellent numbers by throwing for 1152 yards and 10 passing TDs, and rushing for 410 yards and 4 rushing TDs. He had a completion percentage of 50%  on 95 of 190 attempts.
By the way, these stats placed him number 1 in the always competitive and tough NE Ohio region at the QB position.  Mark is another one of my work-a-holics, as he is always doing the extra little things to be the best he can be.   Just a little side note, he already holds the number one spot for finger tip push ups among all current QBs with a count of 300.  Congratulations Mark !
I am very excited about his future as a top D1 prospect even now at this early stage.  We are now planning the summer camp circuit for him and can not wait to watch him perform against all the older QBs.
Here is Mark Waid’s highlight film from this past varsity season. Enjoy it.
