Mark Waid Freshman Quarterback of the year in Ohio

It is rare when a young man comes out of the 8th grade and steps on the football field with men, as a Freshman in High School to succeed.  Mark Waid my 6’1†190 lbs Girard HS Freshman has not only done that but accomplished the difficult task of being rated the number 1 QB in the State of Ohio for the class of 2019.

Mark did it with being the only Freshman to throw for more than 1000 yards by completing  1152 yards passing in 10 games with an average of 115.2 yards per game, 10 TD’s, and only 3 INTS.  He had 95 completions for 190 attempts for a 50% average.  All these stats and the rating come from one of the top recruiting sites, MAXPREPS.

Coach Pearson and Girard are going to be a team to be reckoned with in the future and have some outstanding young receivers to compliment, what I believe to be, one of the top aerial teams in Ohio in the next 3 years.

Now, how does this happen?  It starts with talent, there is no question about it, however, talent without extreme desire and the work ethic to go with it generally provides a failure.  Mark Waid is one of those kids that has all of it!!!   Mark has had a steady diet of Coach Sink and so have several of his receivers for almost a year now, and to see the development at this speed has been rewarding to all involved. Are we there yet, No!   But, the future is bright in Northeast Ohio as Mark will do what it takes to be great.   Only with a few young men can you feel the intensity and perseverance that this young man brings to every work out. A lot of kids work hard when you are there to monitor them, only the great ones work every day to get better and Mark Waid is one of those.   Always, when asked, did you do this work out, or this exercise, or are you stretching every day, or have you watched the film of next week’s opponent, Mark’s answer is Yes Sir.   You answer the question, does this breed success, Yes Sir……..

Congrats to Mark on being the Freshman QB of the year in Ohio. Watch next week for Mark’s highlight film that will be available here on Coachsink’s site.
