Licking Valley Sophomore QB, Jake Lewis first varsity start wins 56 to 7

A football player is throwing the ball to his teammates.

Sophomore Quarterback Jake Lewis, 6’1†190 lbs. from Licking Valley HS in Newark, Ohio finally got his chance and did he play well in doing so.   Head coach Randy Baughman pulled the trigger this past week and said, “I am going with my Sophomore Friday nightâ€.

He did and Jake stepped up and took the challenge.

Not needing to throw the ball as much as sometimes in the past, the Panthers, stayed mainly on the ground and ran the ball extremely well.  Jake ran for 97 yards and scored a TD rushing and had 2 dropped passes in the end zone that could have resulted in 2 passing TDs.

As we tell all of our young QBs, your time is coming and perfect preparation usually ends  in outstanding results.  Jake’s preparation has been steady and consistent and we are so happy for him.    Late nights and early mornings when other QB’s are resting, Jake and a few of his WR’s have been in session with coach Sink and working hard to improve. When the spotlight came up he was ready.

Congratulations to Jake and the Licking Valley Panthers on a great win defeating Lakewood 56 to 7.
